Is it legal to have an NFT with representation of the asset bought on the asset store?
As stated in the title, if I have a game with assets bought on the asset store, then I make an NFT with an image representing that asset.
Is this legal according to the Unity Asset Store License?
I point out that the NFT is an image resembling the asset itself (for example a 2d render on a playing card) with an id.
In the game you will then query the player for his NFTs and show the 3d model (the proper asset bought) linked to that NFT.

it is not specified in the EULA, but to my understanding, you can not create NFT from any asset from the asset store, Quoting:
"you will not use, reproduce, duplicate, publicly display, publicly perform, copy, modify, adapt, translate, prepare derivative works of, distribute, transfer, license, sublicense, rent, lease, lend, sell, trade, resell, or otherwise commercialize or monetize any Asset that you have licensed from the Unity Asset Store for any purpose"
NFTS enter in the comercialize / monetize space
I get what you're saying, it's a bit of a gray zone though, the goal is still to use the asset in the game and the value is not in the NFT but in its game representation.
It's like having a game asset on a cover for a hardcopy of your game and sell it. In that way anything can be interpreted as derivative work.
Anyway, it seems smarter to just give up and hire a 3d artist to make assets for me, which will be way more expensive sadly.
If it is a grey zone then simply ask for permission. Contact the asset creator and talk to them.
I did and they discouraged it, from the reply I think they didn't really understand how it would work, so I won't use them. Too bad because making your own assets costs a lot of money
