Question by 123iamking · Dec 12, 2017 at 01:38 PM · license

What's happen to the games I created with Free Unity before I make more than $100k

According to Unity Personal's note

If your company currently makes more than $100k in annual gross revenues or has raised funds in excess of $100k, you are not permitted to use Unity Personal, for prototyping or otherwise, as defined in our EULA Agreement. You may use Unity Plus for up to $200k in annual gross revenues, or Unity Pro with an unlimited revenue or fundraising capacity.

So when I make more than $100k, I can't use Unity Personal anymore, but what happen to the games I created with Free Unity at the time before that?

Assume at that time I made more than $100k and didn't subscribe to Plus or Pro (or I did subscribe but the subscribe is expired):

Can I still sell these games?

If the game has bug, can I fix the game (using Unity Personal)?

You don't have to stop selling your games. The games you have created are your own property. The Unity license is about the Unity editor, not the games you created with it. So in theory if you developed 3 games with the personal edition while you stayed within the allowed limit everything is fine.

Now if you crossed the limit you are no longer allowed to use the personal edition of Unity for development. So you can simply stop developing but you are still allowed to keep selling your existing / finished games. However you can't develop any updates / bugfixes for your existing games without a valid Unity license. Basically you aren't allowed to start the Unity editor anymore ^^.

In reality you usually have to maintain your games when you keep selling them. If you earn more than 100k in a year you shouldn't have any problems to get at least a plus license. And if you earn over 200k you shouldn't have any problems getting a pro license. Keep in mind that plus and pro licenses have a minimum subscription time of 12 month.

I'm still confused?!? About the time frame of the 100K. Is it 100K per year? Or 100K accumulated revenue? Say year 1-20K, year 2-80K, am I now required to purchase plus/pro from then on? Or is it only in the year I earned 100k, say year 3-120K? Thanks!

BTW, I'm welling to purchase plus after my game reaches 10K?

This does not answer the question. You posted an answer but asked a question.... If you have a question you should Ask a Question.. I don't quite understand why you are confused. What exactly did you not understand in this line:

If your company currently makes more than $100k in annual gross revenues.

Unity also has a FAQ on the website with tons of answered questions which also makes this pretty clear. So yes, you only have to get a higher tier when your annual revenue exceeds the cap for the lower tier.
