How to make the tail effect ?

I want to make the tail effect.Note that the tail is continuous.that is when you move the ball,the tail of the ball just follows,and it won’t break.I tried Particle System,but it didn’t work.Because the tail will break when you move the ball.The Tail Renderer didn’t work,either.Because the tail shows only when moving.
