Interactive Cloth substitute 2018
Hey guys. I realize that interactive cloth was taken out of Unity in 2015. I've been digging around trying to find a native solution to achieve a similar material. Basically, I need to make a rigid body and all all collider reactive cloth. My objective is to create an elastic rope to be used as a physics realistic bungee cord. Think the red elastic belt used in Sheep Raider (if you're interested in solving my issue but aren't sure you have a complete picture, watch this video for reference)
I'm extremely hopeful that the community can point me in the right direction, I've been doing research for a while with no luck except that darn legacy cloth :( halp.
For a moment I thought that was a road runner cartoon from the 60's, Wile E Coyote doing his thing again, but them I was born in the 60's, so...
Anyway, you're on a quest that can wind through miles of road with almost no end, depending on how particular you are.
That said, you might pull something off with a spring joint(s), and a deformable mesh of some kind. Indeed, everything from ropes to chains can be quite an issue in games to this day.
There might be an asset in the store that automates a good solution.
Yeah the problem is, I know for a fact interactive cloth was a solution for this at one point. There was a game on $$anonymous$$ongregate that was built entirely around this mechanic, and their claim was interactive cloth. This is where I found out about it. Is there any way of using legacy components like this in the 2018 version?
When Unity removed the previous cloth, it's gone. You would have to consider finding a copy of that older version (and some people continue to use older versions, it isn't an invalid choice).
