Unity editor infinite "Application.Reload" when debugging
I'm using Unity 2020.1.2f1 and Visual Studio 16.7.2
I'm having a lot of trouble debugging with Unity, When I open a new 3d project, add a cube, create a script and simply put in start: print("hello"); I add the script to the cube and hit start on Unity. As you would expect the console prints "hello", however, when I add a breakpoint to that line in visual studio, click "Attach to Unity" and then go back to unity and hit play Unity shows the hold on Application.Reload box without any changes to VS. When i then hit stop in VS nothing changes in Unity and it is now infinitely stuck on Application.Reload.
Interestingly, when instead of hitting Attach to Unity I hit Attach to Unity and Play it works just how expected and shows me the breakpoint and the local variables.
What am I doing wrong and why is unity hanging?
I have the same issue, happens on Unity 2020.1.1f1 to 2020.1.5f1
I found Unity has a chance to hang when doing a lot of things in the debugger. Attaching, mousing over variables to see their values in VS, exiting play mode when debugger attached. Hitting play and then attaching debugger is very reliable but can still hang when doing the above.
I've also had this happen in Rider and Visual Studio Code. I thought it was initially a problem with just Visual Studio Community, but I think it's just something wrong with Unity. Hopefully they fix it soon, I've had to rely on other programs to auto save scenes so I don't lose progress because of this. I was using Unity 2020.1.5f1.
Same with Unity 2020.1.10f1 :'( Does anybody have a solution to this? (I still have to try the "Attach to Unity and Play".)
I updated rider to 2020.3 today. I am using Unity 2020.1.17f1 and its happen today. Infinite Application.Reload says when i try to attach rider and play. Is there any solve?
