Unity keeps reverting to visual studio as source editor

I am using Unity 2018.2.11f on Mac.

I am trying to set Rider as my external script editor. Every time I do that it works until I restart Unity and then it reverts back to Visual Studio.

How can keep Rider as my external text editor without having to choose it every time I restart Unity or Unity decides to crash?

I would very much like to see an answer to this. This is quite annoying. (Using 2018.2.14f on $$anonymous$$ac)
