What do you call image-marker recognition from device camera, without AR tracking.
I want to make a scavenger-hunt app that has users looking for simple flat images in their surroundings like traffic signs or graffiti tags and recording them with their mobile device camera. If the app recognizes such a marker for one frame, the app proceeds with non-AR-content - no image tracking, no augmented 3D content.
My problem now is, that the markers I want to use are too simple for the standard augmented reality tracking packages (I tried ARCore and Vuforia). Here's one example that yields a 0/100 score in ARCore:
I imagine that this image is unique enough for my purpose, but not for all the additional AR-tracking features that are part of AR Core. Since I'm not interested in any of those, maybe there are other solutions that would work with this kinds of images, but I'm at a loss what to look for. What would you call this kind of feature and do you know any packages that do this?
