Will return license but not re-activate. Since Windows 10
Hi!
I'm using Unity 5 Pro. I just installed Windows 10 on my desktop and laptop. On the laptop I was able to return my license and reactivate it. When I try exactly the same thing on my desktop, however, it won't work. What happens is the following:
I click the Unity icon. It sais "Would you like to deactivate this license and re-activate?". I click yes.
It sais "Re-activating - returning current license".
Then a new "Would you like to deactivate this license and re-activate?" dialogue box appears(!?). I click yes again.
It sais "Unity license returned" and my only option is to click "quit". Then it all quits and if I click the Unity icon it starts over again.
I even tried uninstalling and re-installing Unity altogether and deleting the C:\ProgramData\PACE Anti-Piracy-files as I read in one forum thread, but the issue prevails.
When I check my licens in my profile online, it sais I have only one activeted.
I would be very greatful for any help!
Rasmus
Had a similar issue.
After upgrading to Windows 10, first issue was the re-activate screen would keep poping up but never complete activation. It was stuck in an infinite loop. Solved this by unplugging internet and then it got out of the loop next try.
However, then it would not activate any of our licenses. I had to deactivate the whole $$anonymous$$m and still all the licenses failed.
The solution was to delete the Unity_v5.x.ulf file, that I found here: C:\ProgramData\Unity

Ok! I solved it myself after about 1 h of searching on Google and trying different methods. The solution was to delete the .ulf file called something like "Unity_v5.x.ulf"
From http://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/UnityActivation-Overview.html, i found:
Where is my Unity 5.x license file stored? /Library/Application Support/Unity/Unity_v5.x.ulf (OS X) C:\ProgramData\Unity\ (Windows) * C:\Users(username)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\Unity, if Windows User Account Control (UAC) has restricted your access toC:\ProgramData\Unity. (This can happen if the folder is deleted or Unity is started with administrative permissions first time.)
Hope it works for anyone else with the same problem!
After my upgrade to win10, Unity5 did not offer me any option to use the existing license or retrieve a new license. Since I only have a personal license, your solution to delete the current license worked perfectly for me. Thanks!
This was a life saver - I couldn't get in to Unity after a win 10 upgrade. It was clearly a buggy issue, but your solution solved it. Note that the URL to the original article no longer appears to work.
Thanks! That helped me to solve my activation problem with unity 5.3 on Windows 10!

I bought a licence key for Windows 10 Professional from the website "licence-activation" and now I am working on my computer with no problem. The key is original, and the licence is authentic. I suggest you this website.
