Question by dunkedbiscuit · Aug 13, 2012 at 06:20 PM · shaderfiltertv

How does one make an 1970/80s TV filter shader?

If you've ever seen old news or TV shows from the 80s and 70s, colours seems washed out, there's blurring and bright lights seem to "trail" across the screen. Also, there's the basic static and distortion of the screen due to problems with the tape media. I want to make a shader which mimics all this and then place it on a plane which faces the camera.

Can anyone help write a shader that does this?

A good example of a video with all these effects is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ERbC7JyCfU

The target platform is the PC, and high end PCs at that.

if these links is not what you are searching for, explain what else you want that can't do these image effects.
