Help Room Questions are getting moderated?
I just approved 3-4 posts that went straight into the Help Room automatically. Which leads me to believe that users tried to post them there to begin with... but then, why were they moderated? I thought anyone could post to the help room without moderation? Is it a bug, or are mods moving posts without approving them?
It's possible those were previously hand-moved, by a Mod. For example, yesterday I may have moved one Mod Q to the HelpRoom then forgot to approve it (I just happen to move them before approving.)
I also move stuff from Default to UA -- maybe others do. So it's possible you approved it to Default, then another Mod just happened to see and move it.
It looks like some Qs from 0-rep users are getting into the Help Room. So if it's a real thing, it's intermittent in some way (which is why I want to blame funny Moderator interactions for it.)
Yeah, I tend to agree... I usually wait till after I approve to move (and even then I usually have to move it twice to get it to take). Just seems weird that there were 3-4 in the mod queue for the Help Room.
I think the "move twice" thing isn't necessary. I usually open the question in a new tab, publish, go back to the new tab and refresh so the "waiting moderation" goes away, move. Often the header doesn't show that it moved, so then I bring up the help room in a separate tab and always see the new question there. I think it's just a display bug after the move - at least that has been my experience.
Yeah, I thought that too (and I use the exact same procedure)... but about 1/10 of the ones with that display bug don't actually get moved. I once went through about 50 of them, and noticed several that I was sure I moved still in default.
