Question by Fritsl · Jul 21, 2016 at 12:01 PM · moderation

Why do Unity moderators close the option to vote for bugs?

Several times I find a bug, I search for it, and I find someone else who had it as well.

I log in, I want to upvote, to let Unity developers know that this is persistent/just reproduced, and would like to add details..

..only to find that the topic is closed by you. And then I cannot even vote for it.

But dear Unity folks: WHAT IF THE ISSUE IS STILL THERE?

Latest example is this: https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/new-hierarchy-prefabs-are-not-blue

I Just had this issue in 5.3.5f1 - and now I want to let you know, but you have closed the option to vote..

This is by far not the only time I want to let you know that I had a bug, I spend time to find someone else who also had it, just to see that you discard it as non-existing and then I just get annoyed by the apparent stupidity of the "not being able to vote for something-wall" because you say it does not exist, and then you never get the feedback.

PS: Why can I chose to post this in the 'Moderators' room, thinking moderators should know about it, just to get an error message after posting?

You are mixing your groups here. We arent responsible for the things of which you speak, nor do we have such directional powers of the running of Unity.

On a similar note, we used to have a QA on Unity Answers that was specifically for reporting bugs found on the Unity Answers site (Not Unity Engine). That has been closed since the site was updated.

It looks like the developers weren't able to reproduce the problem with the information given. If you have a reproducible use case and project, simply submit a new bug report with detailed steps on how to reproduce it.

Also, this is a community run site and the "moderators" here in Unity Answers are just volunteers. None of us are Unity employees and we aren't responsible and indeed don't know much about what goes on at Unity the company, nor can we close or edit anything on the Issues site.

You may have better luck getting the attention of an employee by posting this sort of thing in the forums.
