Question is off-topic or not relevant
Are there even people from Unity here?
Are there people from Unity here or is this place totally user driven?
I'm asking because of the rapidly increasing number of posts regarding the bad Unity installer that leaves people with nothing but a gray screen on start. Has this information even reached the Unity developers, are they working on this?

The main thing is that official communication wth Unity3D Co. is not conducted through here. For that, use the IssueTracker (top bar, middle) and, I would assume, the Installer category.
Posting about it here is more like saying "I'm having this problem, is it something I'm not understanding, or is there a known work-around, or should I probably report it as a bug?" For example, a number of people complaining about a grey screen in years past were new users erroneously complaining about all the panels being empty (and thus, grey.)
@doublemax, You do have some chance of catching a Unity employee's attention over in the forums - specifically Editor & General Support - much less so here it seems.
But yes, issue tracker is the official channel for reporting these issues.

In general most of our devs are using the forums. I must admit I do spend most of my time there fishing up issues and feedback to bring back to the teams so they can go in and answer.
Unity Answers is almost completely user-driven I would say, it's more a place to get help with solutions when developing your projects, whereas the Forum has become more the place to discuss issues.
