Unity startup is very slow
Hello!
I'm using Unity 4.6 and then 5.0, I dont know why it's very slow when open a project (after selecting from startup-dialog) and my computer becomes unresponsive, it takes 5 mins to forever to open a project (yeah, my computer hangs sometimes)
My computer's specs:
Window 7 64bit
Intel Core i5-4670
8GB RAM
Intel HD Graphic 4600
500GB HDD
Moreover, there is one time that I open Window Task Manager and then start Unity, I see no activities during this hanged-time (CPU usage = 0%)
I wonder if there is any options that I should have checked/unchecked?

It seems the cause is my hard disk. Recently, I encountered a few blue screen and after checking Event Viewer, I saw a lot of error with my hard Disk. Then I performed a disk check with option "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors", after that Unity start up is very fast, no hanging.

Sounds rather an OS problem than Unity. You should update your windows with latest windows updates and do an overall clean and scan. There's also a low possibility that some cores are dead, so only 1 or 2 are functioning.
thanks for answering, I will try them out, if there is no improvements, I guess I have to live with it.
This usually happens when you have a lot of background software working. Open Run and type in msconfig and ok, under startup you can see what loads on start.
