"To use SimpleJSON in Unity you just have to copy the SimpleJSON.cs file into your projects "plugins" folder inside your assets folder."

Add the files to your scripts folder, not the plugins folder.

There is no "scripts" folder. The reason why i suggested the plugins folder because scripts in the plugins folder are compiled in the first pass. Since Unity deprecated all the other languages (UnityScript and Boo) it's not that important anymore. Though still when you want to use it from a script in the first pass group it has to be in the first pass group itself. I'm not a fan of the "Standards Assets" folder so when i want something in the first pass i put it in the plugins folder.

Another advantage of the first pass group is that it is compiled independently from the normal scripts. Since you usually don't change the files in the first pass group it doesn't have to be recompiled every time you edit one of your normal scripts. With the new assembly definition files it may become even more flexible to optimise compile times.

Note that current version is the one on github

thx bunny, no dissertation needed. i know what the documentation says, i was simply sharing what ultimately worked for me and a few others when Unity just seemed to not pick up the references for this when it was placed in the plugins folder. i should of been a tad more verbose.

thanks for all of your hard work!
