New-Project Error Code (ver 2021.3.1.1f1)
Haven't been on Unity in 10+ yrs, so I am rusty to say the least. That said, I just installed Unity recently & picked up a few assets in prep of trying out a new project I have in mind. The prob is that without having even added any of my own content, I'm already getting compile errors that I cannot solve on my own: I've already tried & have spent the last 3 days "Google Searching" without a resolution. Does anyone have any suggestions before I try going on an insane wild-goose-hunt with each of the asset creators?
The error I'm getting is:
Assets\StandardAssets\Characters\ThirdPersonCharacter\Scripts\ThirdPersonUserControl.cs (line 3^); error CS0234
^ line 3 = using UnityStandardAssets.CrossPlatformInput;
I currently have the following asset packs:
4000 Fantasy Icons (no errors on import)
Fantasy Garment ~ for UMA (no errors)
Gaia Sky & Weather (no errors)
Heroic Fantasy Creatures (a few mesh errors)
Infinity PBR / modular Fantasy City (several script errors with the demos folders)
Landscape Builder (no errors)
Mega Fantasy Props Pack (no errors)
Monster Sound Pack (no errors)
Multistory Dungeons (several errors on meshes & related scripts)
Octave 3D World Builder (no errors)
UMA (no errors)
I also installed the XR Legacy Input Helper & Plugin Management. Other than creating a brand, new 3D core project, no other content has been added. My C# is horribly rusty, but I think I should get the gist of someone's suggestion, provided it isn't too complex, lol. TIA.
UPDATE After meticulous & slow "trial by error" checking, I've narrowed down the critical error as being caused by the "Fantasy Garments for UMA". It did not produce an error the first time I imported it, but after trying with 3 different new projects (each one having each of my asset packs painstakingly imported one at a time to check every single error code they produced, if any), I managed to get the "Fantasy Garments for UMA" to produce the critical error (yeah, the one I've spent the last 3 freakin' days trying to track down), 3 different times. That said, I'm 99.9% sure this one asset pack is the culprit. I feel as though this matter is closed, but instead of deleting it, I'm gonna leave it up in case anyone else stumbles on this irritating bug.
