projectile Effect

Hello All! im trying to figure out how to make an effect either using an object or some other mean. im making a space battle ship style project where if you click on a target the turrets on your ship turn to the target. but when you click to attack no effect appear and i was wondering if anyone can point me into the right direction for an effect like a laser beam or bullets. ones that dont just fly through my target but actually hit it. Thank you!
