How do I get ambient light to light scene evenly?
I have a hallway that is black on some sides and I want the walls to be lit evenly. I used a directional light and set the ambient color in the render settings. No matter how intense I set the directional light, half the walls are black. I have searched the web for answers but nothing I find seems to work. I don't want to fill the scene with point lights because they flicker when I do first person walk through.
How does one go about creating the lighting of an indoor office hallway without the use of Unity Pro features?
A directional light will not do what you want, unless you put it facing vertically down, this would give you intense floor light, even less intense wall light and a dark ceiling. Unity free only supports two lights on any one object at a time. $$anonymous$$ore than this and it can cause flicker as it switches the rendering on and off between all your lights. You could use multiple point lights and bake the walls, if you do not know what I mean look at :

Hope this helps.
Thank you for the reply. I tried as you suggested and it worked perfectly!
