Question by SquigglyFrog · Nov 01, 2018 at 06:19 PM · lightingambient lightrendersettings

rendersettings.ambientintensity not updating in scene in play mode?!

So in my 2d game, im trying to make a slider to adjust the gamma basically. In the lighting panel, i have it set to Environment lighting: color, and its great from the lighting panel.. But I want to adjust the intensity level via slider, and nothing I do seems to change it from the script. I can set the value, and when you read it, rendersettings.ambientintensity shows the value i set it, but its not actually changing any of the lighting in the scene itself. Once I set it, is there something else I need to be doing to 'apply' that change?

Was hoping to find a way to do this. Its so odd that you can set the intensity level from a script, but it doesnt seem to take effect.

 float f = (optGammaSlider.value -0.5f) * 10; float cv = RenderSettings.ambientIntensity;
 RenderSettings.ambientIntensity = f;
 dLabel1.text = "c: " + cv.ToString() + " s: " + optGammaSlider.value.ToString() + " //  " + f.ToString();

just seems odd that it sets, but doesnt actually change it... any ideas? would love to figure this out!

I have the same problem, I can change the value in runtime via script (showing the changed slider + value) but not updating the visuals. I don't have encountered problems setting fog or other RenderSettings but ambientIntensity. After I change any value in runtime in the lighting settings under Environment it reacts to other values via script, too... it feels like it's not using certain values before not changed manually in the settings window.

I'm using Unity 2018.1.1.f1
