Replace sprite sheet animation with skeletal animation
Hello, coming up on my 4th week with unity and I have a functioning game with placeholder, 2 frame animations. I want to replace all my animations now with ones that I made using the skeleton rigging system and none of my attempts have worked.
I have tried the override animator controller, but nothing plays when I do this. I have tried right clicking in the animator and selected "c*reate state from selected clip" but the animation doesn't play. I have tried selecting the state and changing the "motion*" but still it doesn't play. I have tried selecting the skeletal rigged animated game object in the hierarchy and changing it's animator controller to the functioning one, but when I do this the animation windows says all the bones are missing and nothing plays.
I have actually gotten the animation to appear (but not move) when I select the functioning game object with the correct animator controller and in the animator window selecting "create new clip" and dragging in the sprite. But when I do this, none of the bones appear and I can't move anything around to animate it.
So I guess my question is, how do I replace a sprite frame by frame animation, with a skeletal rig animation? Or how do I create a new skeletal rig animation in an existing controller? I have spent 10+ hours over the last two days trying to figure this out because it's the last thing I need to finish my very basic game so any help would be appreciated.
