Question by ArshSekhon · Aug 18, 2016 at 06:00 AM · unity 5uitextgameandroid build

Text is Distorted : Android

I have a text label in my scene and it seems perfect in game view as well as while using unity remote but things get really messed up as soon as i build scene (compile to apk) and run it on an actual android device. The spacing between characters reduces considerably and makes text look ugly. here are images describing my problem. There were some old similar questions but none of them was answered..please help.....

I have the exact same issue while building to my Android device.

I am using Unity 5.4.0f3 Personal and building onto a Nexus 6p.

That's usually a symptom of the font not existing on the device and needing to be emulated with a system font. Are you embedding the font data in your project?

First of all thanks for answering.......Actually I haven't explicitly imported any font file in Unity but rather I'm just using default Arial font. $$anonymous$$oreover there are more than one text labels in my project text labels with smaller font size are perfect but problem arises when i increase font size.....I'll try again by importing font file.......thnx

Anything different in the text settings besides the larger font size (e.g. you're referencing the font differently, or using a different style)? I think Arial will map to Droid Sans, but I'm not sure if it has a bold version.

If you're developing for Android, you might try switching to the Roboto fonts (you shouldn't need to include the font data, as they'll be on the device, depending on the Android version.

Actually I found the problem I had font style set to BOLD and that was problem so i guess your answer was correct that it is due to absence of required font( bold version) bcoz when i toggled font style back to normal everything was perfect.....thnx once again ....

I was also using Arial. Luckily this was just a temp font and the one I am actually using for the project does work correctly.
