Play Asset Delivery through Gradle Project Build for Android

I'm working on an app that uses install time asset pack feature from Google's Play Asset Delivery. Google has a plugin for unity that makes it very easy to build an AAB file by automatically creating an install-time asset pack through a post build script. I use the custom build option from Google's plugin instead of the build button from Build Settings window to do this.
I want to build a Gradle project from Unity instead of an AAB file and then use android studio to make the AAB file. Obviously, there is no Play Asset Delivery implementation when done this way. What should I do to implement install time asset packs into a Gradle build from unity that same way the plugin does?
