How do I use 5.1 Surround sound in Unity 3.x ?

Do I need an external surround decoder for the stereo signal coming out of my computer? What format is the surround audio that Unity creates when you choose 5.1 in the Audio Manager?

First of all, make sure to have your 5.1 Surround ready (like always) and then go to project settings -> Audio and then select Default Speaker $$anonymous$$ode and then chose "5.1 Surround"
