How to make transparent part of sprite
How do I make the extra white part in the sprite transparent?
I don't seem to have that checkbox (""Alpha is Transparency) in my Unity?

Try editing the sprite in Photoshop and making the sprite image portion transparent, then save it as a png or targa
@rileydabazo - you need some program that authors images that contain transparency and saves them in a file format that saves transparency and can be read by Unity. PNG files are common input files for Unity that contain transparency. GI$$anonymous$$P is one free program that will handle saving images with transparecy.

If your PNG is already supposed to be transparent, but it shows a white background in the inspector, Click on it then under the inspector click on the checkbox "Alpha Is Transparency". That will set the white background transparent.
