Inspector is not complying

I downloaded Unity 4.5 today and installed it but for some reason objects are not being shown in the inspector. I placed a cube and I also have a camera but whatever I do the cube remains "focussed" in the inspector... What have I done/ what can I do to solve this?

This may not answer your problem but will maybe help others with similar problem.

When the inspector gets "stuck" on one object regardless if you change the focus on another is probably because you have clicked the lock on the top of the Inspector.

This is actually useful when you need to keep an object inspector visible while navigating other objects as it would show the inspector of the others while you want to keep the first one on.

Will this make the scene camera follow the object? I've been using a script for that so far.

The way I get the camera to follow an object in scene, I highlight the object, I use right click-F. I think if you press F once, the camera jumps to the object, if you press twice it also follows it.

there is a small lock in the top right corner of the inspector. try clicking it. This lock can lock the current object so that you may select other objects without the inspector changing.
