Question by brentshermana · Jan 09, 2015 at 01:25 PM · osxdirectory

OSX: Cannot find my project in Finder

I want to access a project I've just finished on my mac, to move the entire thing into my desktop ( Path: /Users/myName/Test2 ).

I've tried putting the project name, Test2, into the finder, as well as the entire path... Nothing comes up. Nada. Zilch.

This is probably something I should know how to do, but how do I find my project folder???

Sorry for the novice question.

EDIT: I have been able to find this directory using the command line, but the question of how to access it through the finder hasn't been addressed yet

This looks like an OSX user question rather than a Unity related one. You do know your desktop is /Users/{beginner}/Desktop, right?

yes, I realize that. $$anonymous$$y question is how to find a folder through the finder, rather than the command line.

Just to be sure, is Test2 the name of your project or is it the name of the scene you were working on inside a project (maybe called differently) ?

If you didn't specified a custom path during the project creation, (on my Mac at least) Unity saved a project to /Users/MyName/... AND another was saved to Users/Shared/... Maybe take a look into the Shared folder !

Thanks for the response! right, Test2 is my project name and /Users/myname/Test2 is the path. I just don't know how to access this using the finder.

Open a new Finder window, then press alt+cmd+P to show/hide the path at the bottom, then select Desktop on the left panel (alt+cmd+S to show/hide the panel) and at the bottom of the window you can double clic on the name of your HD to get to the root of your $$anonymous$$ac.

Thank you DIJICS! This is what I needed.

And to answer OP, In my finder window, my home directory or "/users/myname" is listed in my favorites on the left side of the window as "my name". I would just click on that, and Test2 would be in the folder.

are you using unity hub, if so then on projects you can press the 3 dots on the project of your choosing and it says "reveal in finder" which will reveal it in finder
