Question by Thorolus · Apr 04, 2016 at 08:21 AM · c#rigidbodyobjectgrab

How could I grab/hold/take an object only with rigidbodies like tongs?

Hello Community,

I have a problem since a few days. I want to "hold" a box with two arms... In the following example the red arrows are pointing on the arms, the blue one on the box: alt text How it is possible that these 2 arms are holding this box? Im moving the arms with rigidbody.AddForce together until the box but when I moving my character the box isn't moving with my character.

I added rigidbody, BoxCollider to my box..

I tried to set a Physics Material with high friction but nothing happens.

So the main question is: How cold I grab/hold/take an object only with rigidbodies?

Thanks in advance

I know you're saying you want to use only rigidbodies, but what about when a certain amount of force is added to the box, it becomes a child of the arms? And when the force is removed, it becomes independent again? I'm just adding a thought, because I'm not familiar enough to give you an actual answer for the specific question.

Hope this helps, NonBreaker

Thank you for your reply!

Good idea, but it's not possible in my case.. The box have to be always an independent object :/

Sorry my suggestion won't work. I'm going to keep an eye on this question as well because what you're trying to do is interesting to me. Hope you find a solution, and good luck!
