Loading project takes forever on mac

Hi All

New to Unity and giving the tutorials a try. I created the "3D Game Kit" off the learn menu. I created the project yesterday, took about 40 minutes. I figured ok maybe it's a one time thing. Once I it was created I closed it out bc I ran out of time.

Today I tried to load it up and ended up killing it after about 20 minutes. It looks like it's importing assets, forever.

I am on a mac w/ High Sierra 10.13.6 here are my specs:

I am using Unity 2018.2.11f1

Is there something wrong? If not this is unusable.
