Question by N.A.K_FYP · Feb 21, 2014 at 02:50 PM · c#vuforiacoordinates

[Augmented reality] Change object in different Coordinates system?

Hello everyone,

First, sorry about my poor English.

I am using the "Vuforia" for create a AR modeling mobile application.

This is the main idea what i want to do shown in the below youtube link: http://youtu.be/xqB--gfwaak?t=1m14s

I have a "workstation" marker (parent node) used to store the object (child node) in runtime. User can use "tool" marker that duplicate the object from it to "workstation" marker.

You can see the youtube link as reference. Also, you can imag that the situation similar to LEGO.

Now, i can duplicate the object from "tool" marker to "workstation" marker , however, the "tool" marker object coordinate is not same as "workstation" marker. I can not place the object on top of another object.

So, i want to ask how can i make the application in the same coordinate system

Thank you

****I think that Is it two coordinate system?

Yep, slightly hard to get what you are after doing - when you move the object from the tool to the workstation you could use the localPosition of it to maintain its reference offset from the tool - is that what you are trying to do? Presumably you parent the object to something holding the marker?

Hello whydoidoit,

Thank you for your re$$anonymous$$d. It is my first time for using this system.HAHA

Also,I think my poor English is not enough to show you what i want to do in my application. So, i have drawn a picture about the concept shown in below.

As i mentioned before,it can duplicate the object for tool to workstation. but, there are something problem about the coordinate system. After duplicated, the object coordinate in the workstation is not what i want, the object will place in real world coordinate same as in the unity editor.

Now, i have two ideas and question that.....

PlanA, how can i get the tool marker real world coordinate in runtime under camera, it means the coordinate will be changed depends on i move the marker under camera. After that, i can merge the object under real world coordinate system and no parent at that time, then, group all object into one object and move it to 0,0,0 coordinate in workstation marker.

PlanB, is it possible duplicate the object from tool to workstation marker and change the coordinate same as step2+3 in picture? It means i can place the tool marker on the top of the workstation marker that the object coordinate can be same as where i want place on top of the workstation marker?

Thank you.

Can you try posting that picture again - sometimes they appear no to work on here and it sounds like it would be very useful.

Is it possible to get the marker1(tool marker) localPosition where i put it on the top of the marker2(workstation marker) in runtime? It means get the marker1(tool marker) localPosition, not marker2(workstation marker) localPosition, also, not global position.

The Image Targets sample application seems to do that:

Thank you for you comment, however, i am using this Image Targets sample in my project.

Also,Is it possible to get the object real world position in runtime?
