Getting too many email notifications

I've set my notification settings to None for all of the not followed options. For items I follow I've set Instant for all options except A new question. However, I seem to get emails every time a question or answer is posted or an answer is accepted, on items I don't follow. Have received 8 emails in the last hour (since I turned notifications on (had turned them off completely last time I had this issue, but wanted to turn them on, as I had posted a question myself).
