Why Should i stick with Unity If my questions never get answered? RANT

i posted 2 questions over 2 years ago now with no answer. I posted a question to a thread that literally said "post your questions in here". nothing.

Heres my process:

  1. look at documentation, documentation has one vague line that assumes the reader understands how the entire engine works in detail.

  2. Ok, search google. no answers on google except for some topics that come close but have to do with some other feature.

  3. search the unity forums like a good boy first... unity just spits back topics that are no where near close to anything relevant to my issue

  4. Shamefully post a question to unity questions or to a forum thread that is somewhat on topic.

  5. get no where, consider using unreal engine... again.

Those Q's seem to be issues specific to you -- for example, the problem with the lobby was elsewhere. Unity is better at Q's that could have been in the manual, but aren't. Those sprites look like a UV problem in the model. UA also stopped being moderated a long time ago. Interesting Q's now get drowned out by "what is a semicolon?" But the manual is much better. Is UnReal support so great? I recall people saying it was good if you were doing something UnReal is good at, like guns, otherwise not.

You aren't always going to find exactly what you want, part of programming is adaptation, and learning from others. I've found that, like you, my questions aren't answered sometimes, and it stinks, but I've also found that using the Unity Connect Messenger to meet some cool people, and then later asking questions has really helped me, so I would give that a try.

I appreciate the answer. I was pretty frustrated when i posted this. you are right, unfortunately, you do have to just experiment.

"Why Should i stick with Unity If my questions never get answered?" Well simply because if you don't get your answers here, with the biggest engine-central community out there, you will likely get even less of an answer elsewhere. Some questions don't get answered, that's just how it is. Somehow people are still able to create games.
