Is there any button to control trails emitting in particle system？

just wanna find the the way to control particle trails emitting like Propertie "emitting" in trail renderer.I can control the particles emit via emssion module, but due to the ribbon mode in trails module, restarting emitting particles will connect last particle to next particle, and trails in particle mode can't make a entire line.
