ImportFBX Error: Corrupted or Invalid file

I'm trying to import FBX files into Unity but I keep getting this error:

 ImportFBX Errors:
 Couldn't read file /Users/.../Assets/Models/3D_Callout_09.FBX.
 Corrupted or invalid file.

I've done quite a bit of searching on this error and I've come up with nothing.

I'm running OSX 10.9 and Unity 4.2.2f

EDIT:

Works when I import FBX into blender on my machine and re-export to FBX. Strange.

Did you create these FBX files yourself (how?) or did you get them from a third party (where?). The error message sounds pretty self-explanatory to me...

$$anonymous$$y 3D artist created them in 3DS $$anonymous$$ax, this occurs for every fbx file i've ever tried, including just a basic cube that he created as a test.

Wow Ok I figured it out... Not Unity related at all and I apologize for not figuring this out earlier but this will hopefully help someone in the future.

I'm running OSX on my machine but I was trying to directly import the FBX (and PNG in this case) directly into unity from our WINDOWS server. Even though the files were created by Mac machines, they were formatted on the windows drive. So I have to copy everything locally before importing to Unity (or photoshop for that matter).

This is why we can't have nice things...

I was having same kind of issue on Linux. Fbx were not being imported correctly and was unable to see them even in inspector. The error was:

Blockquote

Import FBX Errors: Could not read file player.FBX. Unexpected file type." The issues was that I had to do "git lfs pull" instead of "git pull". This may help somebody.

Hello my friends, please, I want a solution to this problem. When I download a 3D model and add it to the Unity engine, this error occurs. I hope for a solution, knowing that the version of the Unity engine is 4, please, I want a solution. Thank youalt text
