RenderTexture map collisions and interactions.

I've created a basic minimap by using a Camera, creating a rendertexture and attaching it to a raw image. I was curious if there was any way to create a minimap based on the position of icons inside that image, allowing hud elements to follow or interact with these objects in the Canvas rather than in the game world.

For context, my intention is to create a 2D side-scrolling fog of war for the games map (somewhat like Hollow Knight). However, due to the large map sizes, it's not optimal to have it in the game world simply due to performance issues, if there was a way to just have it on the canvas as 1x1 blocks that disappear when the player walks near it, it would solve the optimisation issues.
