3d model going through walls

hi, I am having trouble getting a 3 d model to not go through walls, the movement I am using is from an animator playing an animation based on input from the keyboard, I've tried things like adding rigid body, mesh colliders, box colliders but nothing seems to work, every single time I just phase right through the wall
