Implementing binaural recording in an interactive manner

Hello, I am currently working with binaural recordings. If you don't know know what they are, from the wiki page:

Binaural recording is a method of recording sound that uses two microphones, arranged with the intent to create a 3-D stereo sound sensation for the listener of actually being in the room with the performers or instruments. This effect is often created using a technique known as "Dummy head recording", wherein a mannequin head is outfitted with a microphone in each ear. Binaural recording is intended for replay using headphones and will not translate properly over stereo speakers.

With headphones(else the effect is lost) listen to this small audio recording of someone knocking. Warning: You might jump:

My Question:

As you may have heard, the knocking sounds as if it's coming from your wall. However, the location, due to the two frequencies, are predetermined and hard set. Is there a way in Unity to address this issue?
