Configurable Joint Help!
Greetings,
So I am making sort of a grappling hook and I spawn a configurable joint to get it working, now the problem is that the "latching" onto is a bit too stiff for me. If I add a springlimit to the joint I can avoid that and the latch onto is smooth as eggs. But then the spring keeps stretching despite me having a damper... There is no limit for the spring... How can I get a smooth latch and then transition to a constant length?
Thanks!

I think you half-answered your own question. The damper only slows down how fast the spring tries to return to position. You have to set spring and other joint limits if you only want the grapple hook to move so far.

There is an old tutorial in Unity3 that explains the setup: https://archive.org/details/3dbuzz-archive/unity-fundamentals-part-04/020-physics/013-13-configurable-joint.mp4
