how to pick up items and add them to inventory

i need to know how to make my character pick up items and have them appear in an inventory

Hey, hey, remember when I wrote that huge inventory script, which nobody ever read? It's here, and there's no way in hell I'm writing it again.

@gipee4: Please remember to look tutorials up through search engines. I can guarantee you all of the questions you have have been answered in one way or the other. I know this because I'm still new to this too, and I'm not too far from you, I'm guessing.
