Unity 5.1 crashes on project load
Unity 5.1 crashes on project load. Menu opens successfully, but when you select any project, Unity crashes. It was starting to happen a while after Unity update. Unity even crashes while trying to load a Standard Assets Example project! Rebooting, reinstalling and running as an administrator are not helping. When launching Unity using command line, it does not show ANY debug messages! "debug" param does not work. Help me, please!
I am having the same problem. I was running Unity 5.0.2 with no problems, but after updating to 5.1 it will no longer load any projects. It just crashes.
So frustrating.
I am also facing this same problem, where loading my projects in 5.1.1 is not working (and was working before in 5.0.1). However, I was able to load the Standard Assets Example (after it got converted to this version).
seems to be very unstable for me. I've had about 7+ crashes during imports. I started learning 2D even importing the 2D Platformer 2.1 for learning lead to a crash. I've been able to convert my main project but I don't want to develop in an unstable environment. 5.0.2 is the most stable version of Unity I've ever used so far and I'm reverting back to it for now I wanted to toy with some of the new networking API but I have plenty of other work to do before I upgrade to hopefully a more stable version.
Some of my old 2d work from Unity 4 won't import to 5.1 and does in 5.0.2 testing now.
Adding my +1 to this. Project loads fine in 5.0.2 and earlier, but crashes during importing on 5.1.x
Just downloaded 5.1.1p4 here, will give that a shot now.
The crash happens at a non-specific point during importing... It doesn't get stuck on any particular asset.
I have been able to load smaller test/support projects in the newer version, but not my main one.
try to opening your project like this, i tried and it worked:
$$anonymous$$ake an empty new project. Copy your asset folder to that new empty project. then start unity again. i hope it will work for you too :)
Ah, wait. It's now working, perhaps that's a problem of one of Windows update. Now Microsoft fixed this. Also I had a problem with PowerDirector (there was no sound at all), and now it has got sound again. Thanks, Mictosoft...
Unity version 5.1.1p4 appears to have worked! At least in my case it did... Might be worth a shot.

I've tried with 5.1.1p4, and still face the same problem. Once I select my project, unity is closing down/crashing. Anyone else still facing the issue even with p4?
