Model Head not Rendering correctly.
Hello, I have have been trying to fix a model to render properly. The head should look like this,
Instead it looks like this in Unity.
The biggest problem between these two are the proportions and the hair. The ear and chin in particular are enlarged and make this feminine character look like an ape-man. As for the hair, I have tried different shaders and combinations to get it working, but it either looks blocky as in the pictures, or it looks like hair while making the head invisible. The only solution I can think of is to make the hair it's own mesh so the shader I found will only work on the hair, however if this is what I have to do to every character with hair I fear it will become too taxing on the graphics engine. So my questions are, 1. Is there a setting I am missing in Unity that is distorting the face so badly? Or is every imported model just going to have distortion? 2. Is the only solution to accurate alpha hair to make the hair its own mesh? And why would the head disappear or become see-through even with custom shaders? I will appreciate any response.
What program did you use to create the model (and show the top renders), and how did you import it to Unity (I.e. file format, import settings)? I personally would always expect any kind of detailed hair to require its own shader- it doesn't need to be a completely separate mesh, but just to have a separate material assigned to it.
