Looking for Input.touch walkthrough

Hello guys. I have been having trouble learning the ropes of using touches in my game. Does anyone know of a good source on programming with touches? I have found code snippets for how to use touches but nothing that explains why certain things are done. I feel that learning them from the ground up would really unblock me. Thanks
