Question by AngryCSharpNerd · Jun 01, 2013 at 01:10 AM · guibuttonguiskin

GUI.Button completely transparent issues

Hello, for some reason, GUI.Button needs to have a texture added into the Background part of a GUISkin so things like "Hover" will work. If I select the Background as 'none', the hover does not work at all. This probably applies to other things like "Active" and "Focused". I tried making a transparent background GUI texture but it came out as a solid-colored white in Unity. Is there any way I can modify this without making a physical GUI object in the scene? I really need the background to be transparent.

What format was the transparent image you made for the background?

.jpg file

The jpg format can not handle transparency! You have to use a format which supports an alpha channel, i.e. pgn.

Thank you Lockstep also!

I've noticed that when I try to use .jpg's the transparency is janky. (Could be that i'm dumb with images). However, try using .png's or .tif's if you have access to software that can save in those formats. Sorry if this isn't the best answer but it's what I would try.
