Terrain Trees Disappear (Tree Distance is 2000)
Hi all,
Looking for some help... We have the following settings on our terrain object, but our trees disappear when the camera is zoomed out a certain distance.
Any idea why our trees would render like the image below?
I've read numerous articles and checked the answers site, and haven't found anything. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
You may want to check the far culling plane on your camera to make sure that it doesn't cut off the trees.
@RLin Hmmm... that didn't seem to be the issue. However, I tweaked the Field of View on the main camera from 60 down to 48, and for whatever reason that works. Frankly I'm not very clear on Camera settings, do you have any idea why that would solve my issue?
You might want to avoid using the terrain feature. At least for me it never seems to work right because of this.
You've got to expand on the trees you are using, but I suggest speedTrees.
First thing I notice:
It might be the max mesh tree value, crank it up and see what happens. If the trees show up with higher values, the billboard texture for the tree is missing somehow. Just reimport.
Second thing of note:
If you are using speedTrees, the import settings on the model have LOD percentages, check those and adjust them.
Hope it helps!
@Fappp eventually found out this was caused by the specific tree mesh I was using. Swapped out the tree mesh with a new one, and everything worked as expected. :)

Eventually found out that this was somehow related to the tree mesh being used. With other tree meshes, the terrain settings affect everything as you would expect.
