Abysmal performance with Unity 5 on a Retina iPad - was fine with Unity 4.6
After upgrading from Unity 4.6 to Unity 5, I saw a performance hit in my gameplay scene on iOS and mobile, in general, but on my retina iPad, the performance hit is huge. On my old iPad 2, I get 25-30 FPS. On my iPad Mini 2 (retina), I get 12-18 FPS. This is the same scene that in Unity 4.6, I was getting around 60 FPS on this same iPad Mini 2. I ran some tests with the profiler, and I'm not able to tell too much from it. Camera.Render runs between 68% and 91%, but none of the children in its hierarchy amount to much (biggest is Drawing, at 8.3%).
I was able to improve performance quite a bit (still not up to 60) by deactivating my terrain, but having no terrain is not an acceptable solution. The terrain is using the legacy defuse shader. Performance gets even worse if I change it to Unity 5's standard shader.
Any help anyone can provide will be very appreciated.

I found the solution. The problem was that the terrain had extra, unused textures in the Textures list of the Terrain Paint Texture panel. Removing those unused textures brought my scene up to right around 60 FPS on my retina iPad. Not sure why this didn't have the same performance impact in Unity 4.
