Origin Placement Android Uity (Coordinates of Tuch positions)

I am curious about how the touch coordinates orient themselves on a devices screen. Where is the origin? Is going up on the left hand side positive y? Is going right on the bottom positive x?

On a ti83+ screen the origin is in the upper left. And you decrease in y values when you go down and decrease in x values when you go right.

I am assuming that touch value origin is in the lower left, but i wanted to make sure. Here is a picture to clarify. Is the origin location image half #1 or #2??
