Heightmap on a Quad (or other primitive)
I'm looking for a simple way to apply heightmaps to a quad, for example by editting the mesh based on the heightmap, if this is possible. Currently, my application allows users to pick a location and display a 9x9 grid of this location (vector-based tile service from MapZen). However, this is in 2D, and my goal is to display terrain height as well.
The tiles are quads with materials on them that contain the visual map data, which is why I prefer a way to do it this way instead of on a terrain (I'm not good enough of a developer to rewrite everything into using terrains).
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!
