Unable to open existing project after crash
The project won't start after unity crash, my version of unity is unity3d 5, the project is very large some where between 16gb
what i tried so far i tried deleting the Library Folder, temp folder even disk defrag or using cleaner doesn't work.
i need to recover as soon as possible. i also noticed sometimes the splash screen shows but looking at the task manager it's not responding although unity is using memory 250mb but is stuck from there just like the disk usage being stuck. bottomline is its stuck in splashscreen even when its responding.
Before you head to bed for the night, attempt to open the project and walk away. Occasionally a crash or Unity update requires re-importing ALL assets. 16 GB would take a while. I'm not saying that's what's wrong here - in fact it's a total shot in the dark - but it's worth a try.
If you can, duplicate your project, and try opening that. If you get the same issue, try to remove non-essential files like music, video, anything that eats up a ton of space and requires a long import time, then try opening that. Not sure how unity's import process works, but this would be the second thing I'd try.
Worst case scenario, you may have to create a new project and transfer your assets over, including all meta files. Perhaps the whole library folder. (I hope you did not delete your only copy of anything. I'm not sure what consequences that might have.) Hopefully most of the relationships among objects will be preserved; I am not familiar with recovering a project in this fashion. Not to rub salt in the wound, but this is why daily backups are so important.
If you don't get a helpful response to this issue, contact unity support directly using their contact form. Hopefully they'll be able to assist.
i encountered this problem before the best way to fix this especially importing large assets is to import them by segments ins$$anonymous$$d of letting unity reimport everything on one fell swoop.
I have this exact same issue right now. Unity crashed when I was switching platforms (Android to iOS), now when I try to load the project it just pops up the Unity Bug Reporter. Unity 5.4.4p1.
I'm going to revert to an older project, which sucks. Did you ever figure this out?
