Micosoft's Halolens/Continuum

Could anyone give an idea of what is planned or existing at UNITY to address the Microsoft Hololens & Continuum Technologies? Here are some thoughts, add your own as necessary.

  • Will there be means to sync up, or migrate, or symbiotically co-exist?

  • Which aspects are essentially a competitive proposition rather than a potential embrace?

  • if the case[2nd point above](Hololens, hologram technology), is Unity contemplating to compete?

  • Will it be a simple matter of riding/piggy-backing on those new platforms?

The idea is to get some understanding to guide our efforts to assess what equipment to shoot for and what direction to take in various facets of our plans ahead rather than later to avoid (re)writes, etc.

  • I have no power to create new tags: hardware, platforms, hololens, continuum, WIN10(or windows 10

  • Can someone add the missing ones to the list and this post, please.

"is Unity contemplating to compete?" I might have missed something here, but... what with? Unity is a game development engine. Hololens is VR hardware, while Continuum is a Windows 10 feature to adapt the OS to different input devices. Where's the competitive proposition?

Coincidentally I happened to click on "$$anonymous$$icrosoft Build 2015 $$anonymous$$eyNote Day 1" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwem9puDthw (and others in that series) and see that UNITY was mentioned but only briefly, as if something is brewing. I smell a code name(?Chicago, ?Spartan, ?...!

@tanoshimi As for the competition it surely seems that Hololens includes some heavy-duty tools that are a the level of tweaking and adjusting under-the-hood-code which already provides all the time consu$$anonymous$$g behavior that takes so long to write/tune/fine-tune... and as announced in these $$anonymous$$eynote videos $$anonymous$$icrosoft just bought $$anonymous$$inecraft! ...surely when Silverlight came out it did nto take the graphics world by storm... but this is another level. WINDOWS 10 is not 98, Vista, or 8... it will rank as XP/7/10(much more so).

I don't know that you see what I see, but that is competition in my book.

Here are 2 reviews I found:

This one seem to like the Jan version better than the $$anonymous$$ay Hololens Disappointment: Windows Weekly 411 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g6XD5$$anonymous$$D0BI

This one mentions UNITY as a dev platform $$anonymous$$icrosoft Hololens Hands-On Impressions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TJg7T_Fruk

Haven't found anything on the $$anonymous$$S tools yet.
