make colliders between 2 objects.
hey i am making a 3d kite flying game. i am trying to make the strings of the kite.i need the string to be in BETWEEN both the player and the kite and undergo collision with other strings.i tried using unity cloth but it did not work as it could not undergo collision with other cloths.please tell me how can i make the string .thanks in advance.
I think this really is a hard problem. $$anonymous$$ay have to simplify the game. If the strings were always straight, could use a capsule collider. The problem with real, curved, strings is they aren't convex, not really even close, so won't collide.
Could use lots of small sphere or capsule colliders, but setting them up with joints would be a pain (and maybe 5-6 at most in a row will work?) Could position them in code (what's the equation for a hanging kite string?)
Or could maybe cheat, depending on the game (2D? 3D but a certain view?)
I'd use the programmatical chain. On awake, divide the distance between kyte and players anchor for each rope and run a loop to instantiate and chain everything together. If you want to go really fancy you could even update tube mesh to their positions so the rendered rope is in one piece
I guess having a straight rope will do owen. And i can cheat a bit on the straightness as its radius will be pretty small.
Can u give a sample code on how i could make the tube mesh rope or even the chain hexagonius??
Sorry, but that would be time consu$$anonymous$$g. You were also already saying you'd use Owen's option.
