Unity Pro 2D Pathfinding
Does the pathfinding that comes with Unity Pro work with 2D games? Or is it only useable for 3D Games?

Not very well.
It's really designed for 3D. It is tied to the XZ plane, but 2d works in the XY plane.
It doesn't handle vertically overlapping areas very well at all, with characters sometimes teleporting vertically.
I had no end of problems with it trying to make a 2.5d prototype.
This was on sale last week in the Asset Store... it's only $30 now http://u3d.as/content/gavalakis-vaggelis/poly-nav-2d-pathfinding/6n3 Can't vouch for it personally but it's got nearly 40 ratings with 5 stars
There is also Aron Granberg's A* Pathfinding Project which is free for grid graphing (and a couple other types), and does 2D. He even has his own support forum and tutorials. It's what I use, and it's fairly robust.
