Breaking glass effect - animated?
So, I'm trying to animate a Mesh that gets broken in pieces in Maya, using nCloth. However, I'm not sure this animation will usable in Unity? Is there a way to bake it down? It's one mesh with many submeshes.
Have you tried importing it and playing the animation. Not being familiar with maya, I don't know what an nCloth is. But if it doesn't work, then you could try just importing with no animations and using rigidbodies if your animation isn't really specific. Also, there's package on the Unity Asset Store called Explode (I think), which will break up a single mesh at runtime.
I'm curious to know how the nCloth import works though.
thanks I found a way to do it. I wanted to avoid realtime rigidbodies for each shard. I was able to get something going in $$anonymous$$aya.

Figured out you can animate in maya with rigidbodies, bake it out, and then you can export it to a animation, no need for ncloth.
